About Me

This is the part of the blog where you get your questions answered. So let's start at the beginning...

1. Who are you?

I'm Emily. That's Tim. We are "Timily" for short, if you're feeling particularly lazy and/or cute. Three years into our marriage, we are just about to embark on an adventure to relocate from Michigan's Great Southwest back to Texas where I'm from. That part is exciting, but the real adventure will come as Tim pursues a grad degree in Statistics, I try to find a job, and we navigate living with another married couple. Oh, and did I mention our dog is really cute?

2. Why Sanguine Meringue?

Wait, why the cutesy name, or why the blog itself? I'll answer both! The name comes from an idea I had a while ago for a bakery/coffee shop. I think it's the perfect name for such a place and maybe I'll eventually open a shop and call it that, but in the meantime it suits this endeavor as well. As an INFJ/psych major/general overthinker, you gotta know even the title of my blog has multiple layers of meaning. If you're familiar with the concept in psychology of the four temperaments, I'm a melancholy. And I've never been a fan of fluff. Kind of the opposite of the words "Sanguine Meringue," right? Maybe so, but those words aren't meant to describe me. In the last few years, I've faced a lot of unique challenges, and in an effort to grow and learn from these experiences, I'm learning the value of positivity and of doing things that fill me up. So that's what this blog is about. Channeling my energy into disciplining myself to do the things that I love that will add more sanguine into my life.

What will I find here?

I'm not an expert on anything. In the process of accentuating the positive in my life, though, I've discovered a few things that I love learning about, doing, or sharing with others - or all of the above! You'll find four major categories: food, beauty, crafts, and what I call "writings"- chances for me to practice my dream of eventually become a writer of some sort.

I guess this blog is really for people who find themselves in the same boat as I am: Normal. I don't lead a super exciting or heroic life with an incredibly unique background, I haven't been to culinary or cosmetology school, I don't have tons of money and time to spend on the latest fashions. But I have spent some time learning ways to make my world more beautiful, and I'd love some company with me in The Normal Boat if that's where you're at.

I hope you find something here that resonates with you, and if you do, I'd love to hear about it!

-Em
